Great points on the copyright/IP issue. I think the challenge will be keeping copyrighted material off (how?) if they are forced to do so. But I also think you’re right about the PR — it’s a great way for material to get exposure. As I’ve said before watching streaming video over the web isn’t the same as watching a DVD, so I don’t think one should be viewed as competition for the other.
Then again, as my father says, if you really want to fuck something up, involve some lawyers. (Hey, he’s from Brooklyn.) That may happen yet.
