  2. what’s so funny is that Loic Le Meur is being fucked deeply by another french company. hilarious.

  3. i mean, seriously … how couldn’t loic see that one coming ?!!! I tell you why he didn’t : he’s too busy admiring his belly button in his ex-sponsor’s Ray Bans (President Sarkozy). French will get the joke…

anyway, my point is i’ve been using daily MOtion for almost 3 years now and let me tell you something : they’ve always been way ahead than competition, including youtube, always offering new features seen nowhere else. They definately are the leader in Europe, and #2 in USA. If Daily Motion was born in Palo Alto and backed up by google, they would be #1 and by far. But hey, it’s just a matter of time, because at the end of the day, it’s all about FEATURES.

Loic’s just trying to reinvent the wheel at this stage, and that’s pitiful. Watchout : deadpool ahead !

  4. Lorren, there’s something wrong with the way you embedded the Daily Motion VideoWall widget : normally, each thumbnail should start playing the attached video directly FROM the widget itself with a simple mouseover. Check this out : http://www.dailymotion.com/factory/videowall (just mouse-over any thumbnail and the video will soon start playing within the VideoWall itself). Maybe you messed up with the script or something …

And FIY, Daily MOtion created this feature already 2 years ago in early 2006. IT was a bit more static by then (no fancy flash zoomlens effect), but it was already working like a charm back then. I used it a lot for my political blog back then.

  5. They also have this awesome other feature (a bit hidden) called the DAILYMOTION JUKEBOX.

You won’t believe your eyes !!! Check this out : http://www.dailymotion.com/factory/jukebox

That’s something ONLY Daily Motion offers and this exists since late 2006. Many plitics bloggers used it back then for the french elections in 2007. Basically you may affect in tabs (within the player) any number of video groups with a respective number of videos. It’s just the perfect widget for a vlog. And guess what ? It even accepts comments with the embedded player !!!

In other words, you may operate a vlog with basically just the JukeBox in the center of a nice html page and that’s all you need. Screw wordpress and blogger. Just the Jukebox and that’s it, you don’t need anything else.

And again, check DM history, this has been around for close to 18 months with Daily Motion. That’s why youtube looks really like a follower compared to DM. I guess that’s the beauty of small companies : creativity and less bureaucracy.

  6. i think you need to checkmark the “Zapping Mode” option while creating your VideoWall so the mouseover each thumbnail will make videos play directly from the embedded player, which is an awesome feature precisely for the purpose your seeking : a seesmic-like threaded video conversation

  7. sorry guys if i keep posting and schizophrenically speaking to myself, but if you want really a see a jaw-dropping feature from DAILYMOTION, well seat on your chair and check this out : http://www.dailymotion.com/jukebox3d

This is still experimental, and we don’t even know if this will go public anytime soon or at all. Just to show off what they keep in their sleeves for the future :P

  8. btw, for the 3D feature, they’re using papervision3D engine and flash cs3. i know you hate flash, but web 3.0 will be 3D in may aspects, you gotta get used to it and ajax will soon be a souvenir. Become when it comes to client-side apps, nothing beats flash and flex, ajax being way too heavy on processors and memory, not to mention the everlasting problems of cross-browsers compatibility. Guess what framework your beloved Steve Jobbs chose for iPhone’s GUI ?
