I agree with pretty much all of this video except for the NYT. I’ve been in there more than once and get very few hits from it because their linkbacks are for shit.
But my mom keeps the print edition in her scrapbook, so I guess I have that going for me.
The diff is that you do original content and a lot of that crap is recycled. As you point out, it’s the circle jerk.
Funny, but when people spend a lot of time talking about legitimacy, it tells me they’re not. Dave Winer is perhaps the most aptly named guy in blogdom. Hey, I thought up something 10 years ago, please kiss my feet. Do you think that Hewlett and Packard were like that? I don’t think so.
You’re a rarity in the biz — you think up your own stuff. How crazy is that?
And how long before this self congratulatory circus of circle jerkers start shitting their pants and getting into web video as the good ship textblog burbles into the abyss? Then the world will have even more thirty minute, under-edited, unwatchable geekumentary or, even worse, another hundred helpings of Doing Doing. *Shudder*

Mo,
When Anna Nicole died, they linked to a post and it was a lot of people. Moms scrapbook, that’s nice. Reminds me of a simpler time.

Rupert Murdoch got to where he is by pandering to the lowest common denominator.
There are a lot more idiots out there who actually care what Paris or Britney are doing than idiots who care what the blog gods say.

The only guy who ever sent one of my blogs any traffic was a potty-mouth celebrity gossip blogger, DrunkenStepfather.com
And what did I do? I shut the blog down a week later. I’m such a shmuck…

You think Perez cares about SEO or trackbacks or twitter this or facebook that? Nope…and his millions of readers don’t either.
