Thanks Pals, I’m Nothing Without You

December 31, 2007 – 11:35 am

I was lucky enough to have met some great people this year. Here are a few. If I forgot your name, you are either a dope, or I just forgot. Sorry. Either way, you know who and what you are…and so do I.

Team 1938 - Yue, Pam, Eric, Josh and Michelle. Thank you.

  12. Hi Loren, I only found your work recently but I like it a lot. As a native NYer currently exiled in CA, it’s like a breath of home to hear you.

Looking forward to what 2008 will bring!

  13. Loren,

I concur with many others that stumbling onto your site was one of the blog highlights of the year for me.

In fact, it was KnifeGunPen.com that turned me on to your site.

And I agree with you that Robert Bruce is a genius.

All the best in 2008 to you and Michelle.

  18. Well slowly, very slowly you are becoming a growth on me. No you are starting to grow on me. yeah.

I am reminded of this diddy (daddy-o) and as a nod to you (and a wink to your NOT a dopey sister) a dedication (where is Casey Kasem) … GETTING TO KNOW YOU (Oscar Hammerstein) …

    It’s a very ancient saying,
But a true and honest thought,
That if you become a teacher,
By your pupils you’ll be taught.
As a teacher I’ve been learning
(You’ll forgive me if I boast)
And I’ve now become an expert,
On the subject I like most.
    [Spoken]
    Getting to know you.
    [Children Giggle]
Getting to know you, getting to know all about you.
Getting to like you, getting to hope you like me.
Getting to know you, putting it my way,
    But nicely,
    You are precisely,
    My cup of tea.
    [Children Giggle]

    All [Except children]:
    Getting to know you,
Getting to know all about you.
    Getting to like you,
Getting to hope you like me.
Getting to know you, putting it my way,
    But nicely,
    You are precisely,

    Anna:
    My cup of tea.

    All (including children):
    Getting to know you,
Getting to feel free and easy.
    When I am with you,
Getting to know what to say
    Haven’t you noticed
    Suddenly I’m bright and breezy
Because of all the beautiful and new
    Things I’m learning about you
    Day by day.
    Getting to know you,
Getting to feel free and easy.
    When I am with you,
Getting to know what to say
    Haven’t you noticed
    Suddenly I’m bright and breezy
Because of all the beautiful and new
    Things I’m learning about you
    Day by day.

Substitute web denizens, social media junkies and portals (or anything you want) for Anna, the Mothers and kids.

Would love to do a duet with ya … second thought never mind.

With much respect, some love and a greater desire to see more Michelle. Happy New Year … you grumpy old social media shit stirrer. Only more success your way.

  19. I think that you’ll start seeing the lurkers, who’ve been blindly following the a-listers but also enjoying your videos, come forward in 2008. The influence is going to shift I believe.

Thanks for making social media lively and real.

  27. I believe real men and real women always know when it’s time to say goodbye and when it’s time to say “thank you”.

Have a great year everyone watching this piece of awesomeness.

By Livia on Dec 31, 2007

  28. Web 2.0 is all fucked up. Thanks Loren for reminding all that. Where all that BS is going ? What’s the future. I’m trying to write an article on my blog “What we have done with the Internet is not so cool.”
I miss the old Internet times. I really loved IRC times back few years ago. The communities were “communities”. Now it’s all about run to popularity , stats & traffic and cents to AdSense. Even the kids run for traffic on their blog at 11yo. The web is dead? Facebook? lol A spam machine.
I remember i USED to read EFF, /.
Makes me think for 2008. Happy New year to all. The future is not written yet. Well at least, I believe.
