The google TV thing sounds great but it really doesn’t matter until everything is connected and in the box with the TV. It all has to come in the same box or better yet just built into the TV’s like with the Sony’s. People are never buying another box, no matter Googles, or Boxee’s or Roku’s none of them. The time is still flashing on connected VCR’s for most people let alone another box. When it does happen though things will get interesting fast. Suddenly there is a huge base of boxes waiting for an OS. This can be very disruptive on a lot of fronts. TV advertising can drastically change should this get any real traction. Pagerank, SEO for TV all that shit becomes important especially with less real estate to work with. Even though the screens are much larger so is everything on it so you actually have less usable area. There is no below the fold. There is no fold. It will be interesting to see how many embrace the technology as opposed to using the old remote for a lean back TV experience. I’ve always felt that TV and the computer were best left apart. I still kind of do. If I want to be on a computer, I’ll be on a computer. If I just want to chill I’m not. I personally don’t want them all mixed together. I suspect I’m not alone in this thinking.
