Agreed. Ballmer is one of the best ever. He’s so hardcore. All he wanted was to see some passion. He still cares. All the billions and he still cares. He absolutely hates google and he wants so badly to catch up. All he wanted was a war cry and this guy couldn’t muster it. I fucking love him.
Given how often I’ve been breathlessly asked “are you EXCITED?!” about one poorly-managed project or another over the past fifteen years, I can easily imagine the fired guy’s story having happened just as he described it. I hate the mindless Sales culture that prizes circle-jerk morale-boosting exercises over genuine development and creative talent.

Thats a punkass move on ballmer’s part to fire a guy for not being a YES MAN like the rest of those clowns. If Ballmer has any class at all, he will give this guy a huge severance package (for embarrassing him in front of all those people) and make a small public apology.
