I remember reading somewhere about Werner Herzog in relation to film schools. He said that if ever he opened his own school, the first thing new students would have to do is to walk to the school from wherever they happened to be living.
Mike is lucky to have you there! the valley needs a bit more NYC spirit. I’m not one to be negative - but what on earth was this man thinking! how totally rude!!! I would have thrown his ass out of the house. Mike needs Loren around there 24/7.
poor guy made a fool of himself. goofy or whatever the name is working poorly. when i search “boxing” the first result is about “horse racing”. the site does not explain what it is good for and neither could he.
Stephanie, come on, the guy did bring beer, what more do you want…Wurst as well? Besides, this is supposed to be a global village isn’t it? I mean we’re practically all neighbours by 20th century standards. All Martin is really doing is signaling to Michael that it would be in his best interest to share some of his wealth. What’s the point in hording money all alone? You need people to spend it for you. I think it’s actually rather good of Martin to offer his services in this way. Perhaps he should even be paid for his efforts. Maybe if Loren could film the pitch, we could rate the it on a scale of 1 to 5 and the better the rating the more money Martin would get.
Yep, actually I think that’s precisely the next step for you Loren: create a real TECHCRUNCH.TV where you would actually interview CEOs and film their pitch. Could be both informative and hilarious.
Arrington should hire you to build this TechCrunch TV because no one else than you could make it interesting to watch.

I am the fool that knocked on the door of TechCrunch (I didn’t break in, just knocked!). I must admit I had no idea what will happen but it took all my heart to do it anyway.
Loren got me by surprise and as I was nervous as hell, I could not do better. Nevertheless, I got feedback from users and Arrington which is all I wanted. You understand that it is hard not having any feedback at all and thus don’t know if what you are doing is of any value or not.
Better be a fool, taken the risk than not trying it and always wonder what would have happened.
[...] So, here I was, all sweating and nervous, standing in front of the TechCrunch door and knocking. I just wanted to talk about gloofi for a couple of minutes to get his view and comments. Heather opened the door and there were about 6 other people visiting but I had some German Beer, Red Bull and a treat for his dog and so I got in and talked to Michael. Before I actually had a chance to do so, Loren, from 1938media “Interviewed” me and got me on the wrong foot. I did not expect something like this, but hey, I took the risk and all my heart and went through with it. Find the Interview video here. [...]

It’s weird that the guy went to so much trouble to promote a site he doesn’t sound terribly excited about. Did he just do this to meet Arrington?
ReplyThat’s all it takes to get Arrington to open the door? Hell I’ve got some Schlitz and Monster… Too Funny!
ReplyHow did you guys not kick his ass?

ReplyHey Mike..
ReplyLoren is a Good Firewall/Scanner..No WaterBoarding Please..
Hmmm, someone named Feldman reflexively distrusts Germans. Nice touch, Loren. Way to come off like an irrational Jew.
ReplyIt seems this is not his only attempt to reach techcrunch.

I would have laughed if the german guy said, “I found the address on a blog called 1938media or something”
ReplyHe got double the attention he was looking for. I never heard of gloofi before.
Just imagine if this really was a great idea!
But he had his moment. Back to ze bedroom.
ReplyNice web site.. Went to http://gloofi.com just now and got this
