I caught that hit piece also, and my initial reaction was, “What the hell did Scoble do to this guy?”
I was like hit piece after hit piece on Podtech all day yesterday.
Truth is, I have a few friends at Gawker and they’re nice people. I’ve always liked Gawker and their properties, but sometimes I wonder what motivates Valleywag. I mean, randomly pulling Podtech out and running hits on You, Scoble, and the others… I just don’t get it…
I guess we’re talking about them, though, so that gets them some hits…

Who? First I ever heard of him.
By Jim Kukral on May 9, 2007
I haven’t looked at this guy’s site since you were talking about his Amish beard, and I’m not gonna look at it again even now. Two things will make me watch video blogs: 1) interesting insights, or 2) hot chicks. This guy had neither.

You need to start buying cigarettes online.

The amusing thing is that he was fired from Valleywag, but somehow still writes a lot. I don’t think Nick is a “pundit” perse, but there more as an instigator and many things are in toungue in cheek with sarcastic wit. It’s more the tech-tabloid. I doubt people take it so seriously and more as entertainment… I think the attacks on Nick are a bit unwarranted. He doesn’t claim himself to be a pundit and doubt a lot readers think of him as such. Smart guy, but not his role to be Larry King of the Silicon Valley.

No love for CenterNetworks?
By Allen Stern on May 9, 2007
You are right Allen. I read center networks daily, you know me I go off on a tangent and I forget things sometimes.

Nick looks a lot better without the beard, and he ditched the eyeglasses. Now he looks like someone I might actually have sex with.
He’s gotta be gay, not that there’s anything wrong with THAT.
By Vince Williams on May 9, 2007
Vincenzo,
You would hit that? Really?
By Loren on May 9, 2007
I would let him service me.
By Vince Williams on May 9, 2007
Nick is very orally fixated. I think he could take care of my needs.
By Vince Williams on May 9, 2007
And yeah if you really spend that much on cigarettes it’s time to get creative about it. I wouldn’t discuss that on here though.
By jvon on May 9, 2007
I’d even give him a raise.
By Vince Williams on May 9, 2007
Podtech pays my personal “fluffer” more than that.
By Loren Feldman on May 9, 2007
Nothing but a Linkbaiter and whoever he picks on seems to bite.
By Jim Turner on May 9, 2007
I know, but it gave me something to talk about
By Loren Feldman on May 9, 2007
…but now he’s going to think he’s worth 10K!
By Jim Turner on May 9, 2007
I’ll pay him 10K, I’m sure he’s worth it.;~)

I can only say this about Nick. I sat in on the “blogger expert” or something panel with him at sxsw. I was completely unimpressed. He is very full of himself. (maybe he should be, I have no idea) And the opening panel about maximizing SXSW was also really about him.
To me podtech and splashcast need to work together.
I also agree with the valleywag commenters - speaking to podtech first might have been a good idea.
(i am not saying i like or dislike podtech, just that the article seems like a bashfest, when I am not sure it’s warranted.)
By Allen Stern on May 9, 2007
I’ve been following PodTech ever since Loren started talking about them. They are an impressive group. There is definitely something up there. I mean in a good way. PodTech has a great rap in Silicon Valley. I looked all around the web and they aren’t hyping themselves up. That means that something is going on there. My acid test for a good company is that if they are hyping they are fake. I went through their site and saw that they are working with top advertisers. They have more advertisers that Joost who just got $45m in venture capital.
