MyBlogLogs - coComment

  2. I tried the beta coComment and thought it was junk.

You need to emphasize what the real purpose of it is: to display comments you have posted at other blogs.

I must refer only to the beta version, but it was just another vanity add-on as I’ve seen it used.

Problem? You just display, in a sidebar template they provide, the comments you left at other blogs. Many times, the out of context appearance of your comment looks stupid. Readers of your blog just see your comments floating in your sidebar, with no context, no idea of any blogocombat raging or what have you.

coComment I installed in my sidebar, then de-installed it. When I see it on other blogs, it’s just a distraction, not relevant to anything.

some of my best writing is at other blogs, but out of context, such a display is not worth much, IMHO.

There are so many MySpace imitations out there, like the Exalted Business Model for Today’s Web is the “social networking site” that pushes soft porn ads at you.

    No thanks on this stuff.

  3. That is the one thing, it looks like shit and is a little disjointed. Overall though I think it is very promising. I heard the Beta 1 was a disaster, overall I like it though.

  4. In Firefox, I have some layout overlapping in this site, right under Subscribe (via email) button, then to the right of it, I get the f symbol in a circle, you know?

When I click on the f’s I get a better organized layout of the doodads.

Thanks for the heads up on the new coComment. I’ll check it out.

My favorite add on is the Swicki Custom Search Engines that you can put on your blog and train. Ever check them out?

  5. You apparently have the two tiny video boxes in the same paragraph space in your design template.

Suggestion: break the two vid doodads into two separate paragraphs, so they stack on top of each other.

  6. That’s cool though: you learned how to change the size dimensions of the YouTube player embed.

I had not gone this far, so as to make it fit into a sidebar. good innovation there, Loren. I”m impressed.

  7. Loren - thanks for the coComment review - we’re glad you like what you see! Our first (unintendedly premature) release wasn’t great, but we busted our butts to get the latest version out with some significant improvements. As you use the service more, it would be great to get more feedback from you on how you think we can continue to improve! THANKS AGAIN!

  8. I think I share your opinions on both of these things.

The “networking” thing doesn’t seem to have that much of a purpose.

And I’m sick of every service hassling me to make a profile with a picture and a blurb and where do you live and all that crap. Give me a login, and a password, and shut the hell up, little programs.

  9. I like coComment. It’s very useful to track comments that you make on the blogosphere. Another great improvement is the coCoCrawler, which spiders comments from users not using coComment at this time.

    Great tool.
