I think he has one thing wrong in his comparison of newspapers to theater…
“The comparison I use is, say theater. People used to go to the theater all the time. It was a family outing. It was a big deal, a huge deal, big stars. People still go to the theater, but, not as many people. And there aren’t as many shows. AND YOU CAN’T CHARGE AS MUCH FOR THEM, cause there’s all this other stuff. And so, I think in a way it’s a similar type of deal.”
Actually, it cost more to go to the theater now than ever, because it has become very much a specialty and luxury item. I think the same will happen with surviving newspapers. The price they will charge for that specialty item will go up considerably, not down. JMHO.
