  2. She’s not rich. She wears cheap shoes.

By Mom on Jan 3, 2008

  3. wow, that’s appalling.

By julien on Jan 3, 2008

  4. “I was so excited about my website with Jakob, because I thought - if people could just see the real issues that couples deal with, they wouldn’t feel so alone. I know *I* wouldn’t.” - Julia

“When you live with another person for 50 years, all of your memories are invested in that person, like a bank account of shared memories. It’s not that you refer to them constantly. In fact, for people who do not live in the past, you almost never say, “Do you remember that night we…?â€Â? But you don’t have to. That is the best of all. You know that the other person does remember. Thus, the past is part of the present as long as the other person lives. It is better than any scrapbook, because you are both living scrapbooks.â€Â? - Fellini

  5. The thing is, I think she is less of a monster and more just completely clueless. I think she actually put all that stuff out there without thinking about the consequences.

Also, the most interesting part of that whole deal was when she told the details about Jake’s firing from Vimeo for “insubordination.”

By Coop on Jan 3, 2008

  6. Loren, you’re totally on the money. She’s even more of a monster when you realise she orignally posted these claims about Jakob 3-4 days ago on her personal blog before taking it down and I guess choosing Gawker as a platform for maximum effect. Read it here Julia Allison, wake the fuck up and smell the maple nut crunch

By Anthony on Jan 3, 2008

  7. Anthony,

Thanks for the details, Im even more sickened by her now, we need to get this as wide as possible so when someone searches her name they will see her for the ugly monster she is at the very top.

By Loren Feldman on Jan 3, 2008

  8. Loren- thanks for the indignation.

I have a real thing about this kind of violation of privacy, especially when it’s done with such casual cruelty. But Anthony really puts the lid on any sympathy I’d feel for her. Thanks, I’ve revised my post to include that bit of news.

    Perhaps she’ll die alone.

By MsInformation on Jan 3, 2008

  9. That is despicable. Good job Loren for spotlighting this.

Some people get the idea in their head that they are special, or that they are the story, or that being in the limelight is more important than acting like a human being.

Outing someone’s personal problems or struggles just to get face time is just wrong.

And then, to do this for face time on the internet? What is up with that? All of us that produce online media, or blog, or “Scoble” in the online space, want to believe we are on top of the world. Truth is, most people outside this crazy incestuous “Social Media” circle don’t know, or care who the hell we are.

Trying to get on top of this heap, at the moment, is trying to get on top of a heap of whatever. To get to the top of that heap of whatever by tearing down someone else is pure lunacy.

At least those of us that make real content, with real quality, are trying to get out to the masses in the right way. The sustainable way.

If people can’t trust you, they will not work with you. Maybe she will learn this. Probably not.

This reminds me of another public squabble, only with much less impact. The Heather Mills/Paul Mccartney dust up. Just like Macca, I kind of have to feel for Jacob. OK, not that much, but still it was wrong.

  10. I was once married (20 years ago) to a beast that very much looked and acted like this one. Thanks a lot for a flashback Loren…

  11. Great post - and you are so on the money! And isn’t this the same bitch that got kicked off the Georgetown newspaper (after she was pimped by Lloyd Grove because she was fucking a Congressman and then touted as “young journo to watch”) because she plagiarized an article from iVillage? And it was a straight-up, easy case of plagiarism too - nothing she says now, or even then, about the matter changes the fact that it was so fucking basic and elementary, if it had been in a real paper and not a college paper (or even submitted to one of my college professors - and I didn’t go to Georgetown), she would have been blacklisted faster than you can say Jayson Blair.

I know intimately what it is like to live with someone who is bipolar. My best friend in high school and my ex-fiancee are both bipolar. I won’t say that it is easy to live with a person who suffers from the disorder - no matter how much you love them or try to be empathic, understanding, supportive - it’s not easy. However, I would never in a million years share the details of my ex’s (or my friend’s) medical history on a site like Gawker - regardless of whether or not they were connected to the industry. The fact that her ex IS connected to the industry makes the whole situation that much more disgusting.

It is unfair, but there is a stigma associated with admitting that you suffer from major depression — let alone something considerably more serious like bipolar disorder. Even if you take full responsibility and take your meds, visit the doctor regularly, get therapy, etc. - there is a stigma - and it is a stigma that does not wash off. To openly discuss someone else’s medical history - a history that person has not already made public (and even if that were the case, it’s still pretty crass) - and to further insinuate that that person is not properly or actively treating that disorder is character assassination in my book. It’s wrong, it’s disgusting, it’s sub-human. The fact that she did it on a huge media site - about someone who works in Internet media - is all the more grotesque.

People like Julia Allison make me embarrassed of my generation.

  12. I rarely say this, but I think I’ve been too understanding and sympathetic. Poor Jakob.

By Jackie Danicki on Jan 3, 2008

  13. Jakob seems like a nice guy, but I got a bad feeling when I saw that bit where he filmed that bathroom scene with her in the towel.

By Vince Williams on Jan 3, 2008

  14. Beautiful Loren, simply beautiful.

By TedC on Jan 3, 2008

  15. She won’t be punished for what she’s done. It’s already a punishment to be what she is.

By Livia on Jan 3, 2008

  16. believe it or not - I think she learned her lesson.

will she continue to profit off of speaking ill of others? most definitely.

will she shut her mouth when it comes to personal issues that effect those close to her?

she will probably take 2 more seconds to think about it thanks to this video.

By Zack Wolk on Jan 3, 2008

  17. Julia admitted to plagiarizing on Gawker yesterday and then immediately spinned it that the rules don’t apply to her and that it was really a matter of semantics, she was just borrowing ideas. Then she said that reality TV was not on her radar in college, yet she had filmed an episode of Elimidate while a college student and choose to overlook the commenter that called her out on that discrepancy. She creates her own reality and has managed to cash in on it..case in point…look for her to rave about an exotic vacation soon but not mention that it was funded by Denton.

Glad 2 see you join the party. Loren just tapped that celebrity ass, sir.

    Honesty

By Dick on Jan 3, 2008

  19. If only Jakob had the cojones to force (at the very least) a public apology from Denton (who is gay, retard) and Julia (who has NPD,retard) like she did when a Georgetown professor not-so-quietly threatened ICN for daring to call her out on yet another instance of “borrowing ideas”:

  20. I LOVE THIS!! i’m putting this vid on my blog

By Randy Haddock on Jan 3, 2008

  21. Eh, I guess you have to be really proud of your own accomplishments to attack someone else’s mistakes, as large as they may be.

You can’t hate her because she “speaks ill of others” because that is exactly what you’re doing in this video.

But I doubt anyone here cares about that.

By Cam on Jan 3, 2008

  22. but how much of a loser are you, mr. feldman, if you apparently spent all this time checking out her blog?

if she is so incredibly awful, you’ve sunk to her level by posting this.

    people in glass houses.

By etc on Jan 3, 2008

  23. the best way to get this wide is to simply digg it. if only 100 of us would digg it (i’m the inly one so far), it’d hit the digg front page and then be viewed by millions.

By jaws on Jan 3, 2008

  24. Nice rant, but she is pretty hot on the outside.

By Jason on Jan 3, 2008

  25. lol @ Jason.

You all give her more credit than I do.

By Coop on Jan 3, 2008

  26. dude I can’t thank you enough for this beautiful piece of video.

By Randy Haddock on Jan 4, 2008

  27. And the point of this video is…? Are we supposed to be swayed by a mean-spirited, misogynist rant? Are supposed to feel that Jakob Lodwick has been wronged in some way? Or that you’ve righted that wrong?

Sorry, I don’t get it. And I don’t buy it either: you seem much more upset about the fact that Julia Allison might have rich parents than about anything else.

Come on Loren - this one falls well below your usual high standards. It’s even worse than your dog-licking video on Seesmic… no, scratch that. That one was genius!

By Simon Brocklehurst on Jan 4, 2008

  28. You don’t know her, obviously it was a simple mistake saying that in public. It wasn’t said with malice intent. You’re just ranting on about her lifestyle and how she is perceived, what a waste of my time. And what a jerk you are.

By Khamis on Jan 4, 2008

  29. Anthony- thanks for reposting that info about JakobL on your site. Interesting stuff! If I may say though, ’such a public outing could be overwhelming and dangerous’, idiot. At least she had the decency to take it down.

Hey Loren, enjoy that Pzone bro! Looks like your the latest to get caught.

  30. Loren, I’m looking forward to your commentary on this train wreck karaoke performance at CES:

  31. By calling her a slut, a whore, a monster, how are you any better than her calling Jakob a smelly bipolar jerk?

By corporate citizen on Jan 22, 2008

  32. I don’t think Julia is all that great, but this guy is seriously ridiculous. How can you feel so strongly about someone you don’t even know? Why waste your time reading about her if she disgusts you so much?

By Megs on Jan 25, 2008

  33. This video is awesome!!

By Keneth Zigby on Apr 2, 2008

  34. I almost had a date with her. She tried to reschedule via email and I didn’t get it. I called her, told her she should have called, that that’s the grown up thing to do - and she WENT OFF on me - like “Do you know what the fuck I do for a living?” -

I went into with an open mind. I figured she deserved that - and what if I really liked her?

Monster. M-O-N-S-T-E-R. And I work in an industry where I can smell them a mile away.
