Freaking love it.
By David Krug on Mar 26, 2007
It’s good to have the real Loren back.
It’s a good take, though, on what’s wrong with social media. How many people DO talk to kids (well, you have Ethan, and I just talk to people).
I missed his piece at VON - a conversation at my table with some people that I didn’t want to leave - but pundits talk and talk, and I rather talk to the people doing stuff.

Whoa.
This is what we’ve been waiting for.
Heavy duty.
A masterpiece.
By Vince Williams on Mar 26, 2007
I love the profanity. Keep the f-bombs coming. LOL
By Todd on Mar 26, 2007
Give Jarvis a break. Maybe you can learn from his experiences and get on t.v or something.
just kidding.
Well done
By Chris D on Mar 26, 2007
When you are right, yer right.
He lost me when he wanted to make sure we (those of us in the audience at VON) knew that he came up with the idea of Entertainment Weekly.
..and of course he wants more conferences: he gets paid to speak at them! Now THATs a business model!
By Schlomo Rabinowitz on Mar 26, 2007
OMG, I now know why I tell everyone to watch Loren. Classic.
By Jim Turner on Mar 26, 2007
Thanks Jim I truly appreciate it.
By Loren Feldman on Mar 26, 2007
Holy crap I totally lost it when you said the bit about the Odd Couple. I don’t think we should dismiss people like Jeff out of hand, but we shouldn’t be looking to them for innovations either.
By jvon on Mar 26, 2007
I love the Odd Couple. Best epsisode? When Oscar sleepwalks, and hits Felix with newspaper. Now I don’t even need him for that come to think of it.
By Loren Feldman on Mar 26, 2007
That’s good, and that’s funny … and that’s true.
By flic on Mar 26, 2007
How is it possible that with every video you:
A. are so right
B. can throw out a classic line?
Did you sell your soul to the video blogging devil?
By Jim Kukral on Mar 26, 2007
Aw Jim you are too kind. The truth of the matter is I just know my shit, regardless of how crazy I may seem
By Loren Feldman on Mar 26, 2007
It won’t buffer. WTF.
By John Wesley on Mar 26, 2007
I apologize John, use mp4 link, and a podtech tech will contact you, I apologize
By Loren Feldman on Mar 26, 2007
Absolutely hysterical and right on. Keep it up!
By reverb on Mar 26, 2007
Wow! Masterful Slam!
Right or wrong I love your shit man.
By PXLated on Mar 27, 2007
Thanks PX.

“Best odd couple episode ever”.
Oh man, I think I’m going to die.
Welcome back. Can’t wait to get you on a stage in Toronto
(one of the mesh guys)
By Rob Hyndman on Mar 27, 2007
I know who you are Rob, looking forward to meeting you sir.
By Loren Feldman on Mar 27, 2007
Loren, that is one of the funniest things I’ve had the pleasure of viewing. Even if I *do* love Odd Couple
Rock on. See you at mesh.
- Stuart
By Stuart MacDonald on Mar 27, 2007
I love the Odd Couple as well, thank you very much for the invite.
By Loren on Mar 27, 2007
OK, so maybe Hugh was right. You’re starting to win me over. Anyone who makes Alf and Charles in Charge references does. Low bar. Just, please…no more vids with low angle shots of you in shorts. Deal?
By steve on Mar 28, 2007
I don’t make deals, hope that’s not a deal breaker.
By Loren Feldman on Mar 28, 2007
The Kid says:
The obvious next step is the 1938 Media video game.
Then all the people who want to kill you can have their wish, and you can still make money off it.
Once your audience has evolved with that, then you come out with the movie, of course.
Just ask Ethan.
By Vince Williams on Mar 28, 2007
Let them all try kid, let em try.
By Loren Feldman on Mar 28, 2007
Uses of video blogging—(1) slamming a person for no rational reason [other than that you don't like him] in a way which permits no response or reply.
This is an excellent example of how the blogosphere has corrupted discourse.
This kind of screed used to have its biggest audience at the end of a grubby bar. Now you can just stay home in your trailer park and pop off to the world.
Charmed.
By Marian on Mar 29, 2007
Marian
Apparently you are in the minority, no ones forcing you to watch, and Mr. Jarvis has video capabilities hes more than able to respond.
By Loren Feldman on Mar 29, 2007
Loren, perhaps I’m in the minority because most other people who find this irritating just turn it off.
Lobbing verbal bombs in a one-way medium is the internet-era equivalent of nailing your these to the church door then running away. You get to say your piece, however, obnoxious it might be, and no one can interject.
Well goody for you, but you have to admit that it’s a cowardly way to have an argument.
Ta,
Marian
By Marian on Mar 29, 2007
Marian
WTF dont you understand? He makes videos, let him make one if he wants.
By Loren Feldman on Mar 29, 2007
Just Beautiful!
By Bill Olen on Apr 3, 2007
I don’t know about Jeff Jarvis, but I agree with your reasoning. I’ve encountered this same thing at e-learning conferences where the keynote speaker is some old guy who is still trying to come to terms with the concept of a wiki.
By James on May 5, 2007
Good to see you back
if I want to know shit about video I ask Daniel @ QIK 15 years old and clued in, oh and you
By pat phelan on Jun 15, 2008
Masterful, gives the lowdown on the bullshit that the world is spewing out and doesn’t bs, thats why I will always watch 1938media!
By Skyvan on Jun 15, 2008
On his blog, Jarvis references the Vanity Fair blogopticon where he was in the “Earnest” quad as opposed to the “Scurrilous” section. I think that blogopticon had Fail written all over it. It should have measured relevance instead.
My line of work has zero to do with video-blogging but I heard you loud and clear the first time you talked about the need for content as the overarching issue. It doesn’t sound like a complex statement. Why don’t people get it?
As always, you speak the truth. Beautifully done.
By MsInformation on Jun 15, 2008
New generation vs. older generation on new media vs. old media. Good points Loren.
