Hey Loren, not sure what issue you have about letting people look at eachother’s clickstreams. One person’s garbage cache might be somebody else’s entertainment. Not for us to decide that. Its AT compliant which means that its 100% opt in and people can delete their clicks/channels whenever they wish.
Hey Seth: Can you guarantee the security of my clickstream? I might not want someone else to have that data.
What if that data ends up including identifying information (account numbers)? What if some of the clickstream is encrypted? Somebody can spend time to decrypt it. Even better: for multiple encrypted clicks to the same site, I can probably figure out the encryption standard faster.
You could buy insurance to cover lawsuits if the data were compromised. Maybe Lloyds will offer you such a policy. I’d guess it will cost too much for your fledgling business to afford, which should indicate where you are on the risk-reward curve.
I’m a statistician… so I’m sure I’m being too alarmist. After all, combing through mountains of data is my lifeblood. Sure I could put such data to evil use. But criminals don’t employ people like me, right? Right?
Thanks for the heads up. This made me really mad (the product, not you of course) so I guess I’ll have to blog about it
ReplySecond.
Thanks for this.
Man, you look worse than me this morning.
Take care of that cold, too. At first sign of a cold, eat three cloves of chopped up raw garlic, and you might fend it off.
It works for me.
ReplyI always look worse than you Vincente.
ReplyNah.
You’ve never seen me when I haven’t shaved for three days, my hair sticks out on all sides, and even my ears need shaving.;-)
