  2. Data portability does not seem to protect the end-user.

Am I looking at this wrong Loren? If so please tell me but it just seems like this is a way for people/business to extract an established audience and place them in whatever social network they choose.

just click the little button and don’t ask questions?

    I don’t know man.

  3. Im not sure either Dick. Chris is a smart guy and he’s trying to correct a problem others created. I’m not sure how it all will flesh out.

  4. Loren, I’m sure a lot of people would appreciate data portability between social networks… but I thought you hated social networks like myspace, facebook, etc.?

  5. “Data portability does not seem to protect the end-user.”

DataPortability is not just about creating a brand, wacking some standards together, and running around like ninjas saying we can do magic. It’s also about generating discussion, on things like what does it actually mean to own data. Do you own the contact details you collected of your friends in your address book? It questioning things on a philosophical level of what a users rights are and how vendors should interact with their data.
