Chinese Democracy Review

It’s an ok album at best. Buckethead is no Slash and Axl sounds like a woman.

I’m not really a GnR fan but Buckethead hasn’t been in the band since 2004… Some of his work is still found on the CD but then again when you see the credits for the album I think every musician ever played on it.

I’ve always felt that much of GNr’s success was do to in-studio production techniques. That being said, Slash is one of the more underrated guitar players in modern pop rock and roll. The early collaboration of Slash’s guitar work with Axel’s unique (some at the time said horrid) vocal styling was something new and edgy for it’s time.

Gnr’s progression towards a more heavily produced, melodramatic sound and away from it’s hard core rock and roll roots was one of the primary reasons for the bands demise alongside Axl’s stupendous ego.

Slash and the remnants, in other incarnations, have been happily touring, making music and making money in the meantime since Gnr broke up while Axl pined away his time, locked away in his fortress of solitude, paranoid and obsessed with himself. Too paralyzed with the prospect of failure, to the extent that now, some 16 odd years later, that’s what he inevitably is left with: one big fat, over-hyped, over-wrought, ain’t megalomania a bitch, FAIL !!!

If you go from a Band where 75% org members were song writers to one that has one core song writer..what did you expect to happen?

Never did get the gnr thing. One word sums up the early 90’s for me: Nirvana.

I remember G and R used to be popular enough that they could start a concert 2 hours late…over and over and over again, and no one cared. Somehow I don’t think that would fly now.
