So, a couple of comment / questions regarding your review —
What about the Brightcove website is all Flash? I didn’t see anything but the videos that was created in Flash.
Also, you mentioned the site was “very difficult to navigate”. How so? The channels are laid out plain and simple. YouTube, by comparison offers a link to channels and then only provides you with what channels have been the most popular over, I guess, what’s been hot for the week. Alternatively, to see what channels YouTube offers, one actually has to browse through the “categories”. Forcing a new user to have to make the differentiation of the difference between what defines a channel from a category is, in my opinion, more difficult from a usability perspective.
Regarding their apparent lack of traffic when compared to YT, I believe that really doesn’t factor in that much. I’d take Brightcove’s smaller database of content over being buried in YTs massive repository anyday. Of course, that 50 / 50 split (or 70 / 30) is something to be considered…
That’s cool. I’m not really “digging” one over the other or looking to entice an argument, just trying to carry the review a bit further and spark up a conversation.
FYI — You’ve recorded nearly 3 minutes of dead air after your review here.
No complaints really, just thought you’d want to know.
Replyyeah I know, too lazy to fix, sorry to make you sit through that, thanks for the heads up.

ReplyThe site is horrible in my opinion. If you’re digging it for you then that’s cool. As they say, that’s why they make vanilla and chocolate.
