    February 19, 2007 – 7:32 am

I was a little boy a long time ago.

Today I’m 41, and more than likely I’m half finished. It’s starting to make sense to me now, this life thing.

    Sort of.

    2. Your old man dressed hip. I really like the hat and the shirt. How did that sweet little guy turn into the monster that we know today? You do have a knowing look, though. ;-)

    4. That’s Benjamin Feldman, my Grandfather. I think of him on my birthdays.

    7. happy birthday dude
you know technology is growing exponentially and, with luck, I’d bet you haven’t even lived a third of your life yet (and possibly much less)

    11. It’s all in the eyes, ain’t it? Even at that age.

p.s. I still remain scared knowing that my son and daughter visits 1931media.com :)

    14. God bless the grandfathers. He looks like a righteous dude.

    15. Happy Birthday Brother… I don’t know what it is, but sometimes I think we hold Zeydas in higher esteem than our actual fathers…

    16. To Minic:

I think your kids will be just fine. They won’t get a distorted view of reality here.;-)

    17. To Bourbon Hipster:

I want some of that acid you’ve got.;-)

    18. The more I study this photo, the more I think this is one of greatest photos I’ve ever seen. The linearity, the black/white values, and the astonishing ability of this little mensch to upstage the formidable presence of his grandfather.

By Vince Williams on Feb 19, 2007

    19. I’ve always liked how our arms are, and the fact he didn’t look at the camera. He was too cool to care. He was the best, a real fucking man. Smart, tough, and tender. I adored him.

By Loren Feldman on Feb 19, 2007

    20. This is a masterpiece. So was your grandfather. Everything good in that man is there, and he shows us what cool is.

By Vince Williams on Feb 19, 2007

    21. Half? Let’s be realistic here!

By Jeremy Pepper on Feb 19, 2007

    22. It really is a great shot, no doubt about it. Especially when you consider that it was shot on actual film, so I doubt they took eight of them and picked the best one.

By jvon on Feb 19, 2007

    23. Black and white will always illuminate the haunted quality of souls - such knowing eyes in this shot

By bec on Feb 20, 2007

    24. I absolutely love the photo. As mentioned throughout the thread, real men, black & white, telling eyes. I’m imagining the stories he would tell and how much of an impact they had, and still have.

Stories like that are long lost unless our generation remembers and passes them on.

You’re not closer to death at 41, Loren. Your stories to your son will live on for generations, just like your Grandfather’s are now.

    29. I thought you said in a video awhile back you were in your 50’s! Doh.

By TDavid on Feb 20, 2007

    30. TDave,

WTF is the matter with you? Do I really look that bad? I’m sure I did say I was in my 50’s, I was thinking nobody would actually believe it.

By Loren Feldman on Feb 20, 2007

    31. I like what an old hippie told me:

The average lifespan of a male in the U.S. is about 75 years.

If you divide 75 years into three 25-year periods, you have:

      0-25 years=youth

      26-50 years=middle age

      51-75 years=old age

      Simple, logical and elegant.

You’ll only show your ass if you deny it.

    32. Vince,

As always perfect. I see it the same way.

By Loren Feldman on Feb 20, 2007

    33. That’s a stunning photograph Loren. Life is sometimes beautiful like a photograph.
