New years is one of my favorite times of year. A chance to start fresh. Anything is possible in a new year, a chance to right the wrongs of the previous year. That feeling that everything is gonna work out. This is gonna be the year you finally get your shit together. That’s what makes it so great, the feeling of hope. Hope that we somehow become better people. Thinner, richer, whatever, better. Hope. We need that sense of hope because things don’t always work out the way we wish they did now do they? That doesn’t mean it has to be bad, it just means that it’s different than what you thought it would be, and what we thought it would be is almost always wrong anyway. Life’s funny like that. “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry” right? Anyway, in this year of social media and in keeping with the web philosophy of transparency I humbly present to you my own, best laid plans for 2010.
I resolve to:
Quit smoking.
Try not to call Scoble obese, borderline alcoholic, or mentally ill on twitter after 10AM EST.
Workout.
Put more effort into making my videos.
Work in new mediums.
Write blog posts more often.
Read printed books more often.
Cook more often.
Completely automate my twitter account.
I will not read most of the tech sites anymore.
Make videos as long as 30 minutes.
Make more money to fund the artsy cool shit in my head that I know people would love to see.
Partner with a larger company if I need to to do the above.
Try not to be so judgmental of people dumber and less attractive than I am.
Go to Shul more.
Try and be more patient.
Do a music video.
Do a dance video.
Draw or paint something.
Write a book.
Try and forgive France.
Have sex every single day with my wife. A few times a day actually. That’s more a dream than a resolution I guess. You know what? Fuck it. I’m leaving it in there, because without dreams, it’s either nothing or nightmares.
May this New Years bring you health, love, wealth, and most importantly whatever it is you dream for yourself.
